RSPB Wallasea Island
RSPB Wallasea Island is a nature reserve on the Essex coast which gives people the chance to get close to wildlife, enjoy the coastal fresh air and wonder at the large skies. Wildlife abounds throughout the year from the thousands of wetland birds that visit in the winter through to breeding avocet and terns in the summer. Trails of varying lengths give visitors the chance to explore the reserve taking in lagoons, saltmarsh, mudflats and grassland.
The reserve is currently free to visit and the car park is open daily, 8am-8pm (or dusk if earlier). There are no facilities on the reserve but there are close by cafes and pubs.
Regular guided walks take place on the reserve and more about these can be found on rspb.org.uk/wallasea
