Whilst visiting the charming cathedral city of Chichester, take your time to discover Pallant House Gallery – a widely acclaimed gallery, known for its innovative exhibitions and displays. Here you’ll encounter a rolling programme of first-class national, international and contemporary art.

The Gallery’s Collection of British Modern art is frequently described as one of the best in the UK, and includes important works by Frank Auerbach, Peter Blake, Patrick Caulfield, Barbara Hepworth, Lucian Freud, Ben Nicholson, Eduardo Paolozzi, John Piper and Graham Sutherland and work by contemporary artists Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and Gavin Turk.

The gallery is internationally acclaimed for its seasonal exhibition programme, which currently includes an exhibition of post-impressionist Harold Gilman and upcoming contemporary painter Nick Goss’s first museum show. Coming in July, the largest retrospective of works by Ivon Hitchens since 1989.

The gallery also runs an extensive programme of tours, events, courses and workshops, details of which can be found on pallant.org.uk. Make a day of it by visiting the restaurant and specialist art bookshop which are free to enter, as are the ground floor exhibitions and displays. An admission charge applies to the collection and main exhibition spaces.
