Canterbury Roman Museum

Found in the heart of Canterbury’s historic centre, the Canterbury Roman Museum is the only dedicated Roman museum in Kent. It offer visitors the unique opportunity of leaving the 21st century behind, delving 8 feet beneath street level, to discover what Roman Canterbury was like.

The museum features one of the UK’s only remaining in-situ Roman pavement mosaics as well as the remains of an ancient underfloor heating system. Our collection includes items of national and international significance, such as an Iron Age helmet that was declared one of the key finds of 2012 by the British Museum for being the finest example of its kind found in Britain. Remarkable items of jewellery, glassware, silverware and pottery also make up our expansive collection.

Guided tours of the museum, followed with an object handling session, are available. Our knowledgeable staff can provide further insight into our fascinating collections and Canterbury’s rich Roman heritage. We offer Group Rates of over 30% off for groups of 10 or more as well as 2 free child admissions per paying adult.
