Geocache: Harwich - Sound Mirrors
Click the play icon to listen to ‘Harwich Sound Mirrors’, an audio work reflecting on the sounds of Harwich, made by people with a connection to the town.
It was written and performed by Simon Cole, Sue Taplin, Jake Thorne and Annette Fry, during a workshop led by the artists Dot Dash (Lawrence Bradby and James Wilkes). Audio production by Ed Prosser. The work was commissioned by Metal and made in collaboration with Harwich Festival.
There are five more Sound Mirrors geocaches hidden around the Essex coast, and 29 geocaches in total as part of England's Creative Coast's GeoTour across Essex, Kent, and Sussex. Can you find the others? Follow GeoTour GT4A5.
Dot Dash developed this work in response to HELLO RETREAT by Katrina Palmer, an England’s Creative Coast Waterfronts co-commission by Turner Contemporary and Metal, one of seven new artworks and the world’s first art GeoTour treasure hunt, that connect and celebrate the distinct, creative coastline across Essex, Kent and East Sussex.
HELLO RETREAT is also part of Estuary 2021 and can be viewed on East Beach in Southend-on-Sea, from 22 May to 7 November 2021.
